Robert Warrens

Robert Warrens is a renowned artist and influential art educator. He was Professor Emeritus at Louisiana State University from 1967 to 1998.

His artwork is exhibited in museums, corporations, and private collections throughout the United States. Accolades for his work include The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts Inc.; The Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans; Pollack Krasner; The Joan Mitchell Foundation; Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston; The Delgado Society; The New Orleans Museum of Art; SECCA/ R.J.R. Southern Artist Fellowship; National Endowment for the Arts; Visual Artists Fellowship 1979 and 1985; and, most recently, the Lifetime Achievement Award, St. Tammany Parish.

After Hurricane Katrina flooded his home in New Orleans, he began the Katrina series in Mandeville, followed by the Restoration of the Wetlands and the Louisiana Series of birds, rainbows, swamp flowers, and swamp landscapes. He continues to paint and create sculptures about politics, climate, science, and human folly. He currently resides in New Orleans.
