FINE ART IN COVINGTON, LA | THE ATRIUM GALLERY AT CHRISTWOOD

Connecting with each other through art.

Art has the power to connect us with the world at large through shared emotions and experiences. At Christwood, we connect with the Covington community through art at the Atrium Gallery.

With a fireside lobby and café, the Atrium Gallery provides a welcoming space to view contemporary art from regional artists. We’ve hosted exhibitions by painters, sculptors, photographers, and mixed media artists. Exhibits are rotated throughout the year and open with a festive reception with live music and refreshments. Always free and open to the public, we invite you to stop by and see the latest exhibition.

CURRENT EXHIBIT

Mary Jane Parker and Alan Gerson

September 9 - October 30

On display is a collection of New Orleans artists Mary Jane Parker and Alan Gerson.

Mary Jane Parker is a native New Orleanian whose work combines printmaking with drawing, water-based media, wax, and glass. Inspired by the foliage of the New Orleans landscape, her work explores themes of fragility, compulsion, and ritual through intricate patterns and elements of human presence. She earned her B.F.A. from Louisiana State University and her M.A. and M.F.A. from Illinois State University. Her work is included in collections such as the New Orleans Museum of Art and the LSU Museum of Art and is represented by Arthur Roger Gallery in New Orleans.

Alan Gerson is a New Orleans artist and former attorney whose dreamlike paintings blend the real world with imagined, fantastical elements. His multi-layered and technically sophisticated work often explores philosophical themes, lost innocence, and existential dread with a distinctive sense of humor. Gerson earned his B.A. in Philosophy from Boston University and his M.F.A. from the University of New Orleans. His work is included in collections such as the New Orleans Museum of Art and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, as well as numerous private collections.
