Christwood opened its doors in May 1996 as the first continuing care retirement community on the Northshore. Founded with a vision to create a community where older adults could thrive with dignity, security, and purpose, Christwood has grown over the past 30 years into a trusted resource for residents and families seeking independent living, assisted living, and health care services within a single, connected campus.
“Reaching this milestone is a testament to the vision of our founders, the dedication of our team members, and the trust placed in us by generations of residents and families,” says Jeff Sianko, Chief Executive Officer. “For 30 years, Christwood has remained steadfast in its mission to provide not just a place to live, but a true community built on relationships, compassion, and excellence.”
Throughout its history, Christwood has continually evolved to meet the changing needs and expectations of older adults. From expanding levels of care and enhancing wellness offerings to investing in campus improvements such as the recent addition of indoor pickleball courts for the enjoyment of residents and Community Center members, the organization has remained focused on delivering a high quality resident experience while ensuring long term sustainability.
“Our story is one of thoughtful growth and adaptation,” says Board President Patti Ellish. “While the senior living landscape has changed significantly over the past three decades, our core values have remained constant: respect, integrity, and a deep commitment to serving older adults well.”
As part of its anniversary celebration, Christwood will host a series of events throughout the year honoring residents, team members, volunteers, and community partners who have played a role in the organization’s success. These celebrations will reflect Christwood’s legacy while also looking ahead to the future of senior living.
Today, Christwood serves as a vibrant, welcoming community where residents live engaged, purposeful lives — and where families have confidence knowing their loved ones are supported, whenever needed, by a dedicated and compassionate team.
“As we celebrate 30 years, we do so with gratitude and optimism,” says Jeff Sianko. “We are proud of where we’ve been, energized by where we are, and excited about the opportunities ahead as we continue to serve current and future generations.”
