Coronavirus Update – from our Executive Officer

I was taught years ago that responsibility meant the ability to respond. Seems true in this case. We have “community ability” to respond. We’d like to keep it that way!  Be Vigilant…DO IT WELL. We want to manage the unavoidable so we can avoid the unmanageable.

Christwood is blessed to not have cases of the COVID-19 virus on our campus.  We credit this to the efforts made by residents and staff alike as we follow physical distancing, handwashing and other current health care protocols.

The word for the day is MASKS. As mentioned before, the CDC and WHO and other authorities have modified their position on masks. For the ongoing safety of our residents and staff members, Christwood will require all staff members to wear a facial mask while on campus, starting Saturday, April 4, 2020.  We are fortunate to have received donations of masks that were lovingly sewn by our residents and friends of Christwood.  A mask will be provided to each employee at our front gate during the morning check in. During this time of COVID-19, facial masks will be considered as part of each staff member’s uniform and are required to be worn while on duty. Masks are also being distributed to residents for their use.

The Dining Department at Christwood is prepared to implement added measures to minimize the potential exposure to our community by providing only non-contact delivery for all dining services. We recognize that these recent, necessary adjustments are being felt by many residents and staff alike and we will continue working to lessen the impact of those changes made – as well as any that may come.

The Beehive Market will continue its extended operating hours of 9:30 am – 3 pm, 7 days a week, however, the doors to the Beehive itself will be closed. Residents are invited to call during normal hours to place an order for delivery from our current inventory.

We look forward to the day when we can resume normal activities both on and off campus. Until then, thank you for working with us to keep the community safe.
